Meeting Time & Place and Start of Walk - 11.00 at the Emmeline Pankhurst statue, St Peter's Square, Manchester

Expected time back in St Peter's Square - no later than 14.30

Tram Ticket – all lines run through St Peter's Square so it will be a return from your starting tram stop unless you have a GM concessionary travel card with the train/tram supplement.

Car Parking - Not advised.

Walk Route - St Peter's Square, John Dalton Street,  Bridge Street, River Irwell, Manchester Ship Canal, Trafford Road Bridge, Bridgewater Canal, Castlefield, Rochdale Canal and St Peter's Square.

Note: walkers are advised to check the TfGM website www.tfgm.com near the day of the walk in case any disruption of services is expected.

This is a gentle, flat walk along the river Irwell where you find a mix of modern and old landmarks towards Salford Quays. There will be a light lunch stop at the point where the river meets the Manchester Ship Canal at Trafford Road Bridge, then the way back to St Peter's Square is along the Bridgewater Canal  via Castlefield and Rochdale Canal.
