Overview

Out by Easneye Wood and the Dairy Farm, then to Ware and along the River Lea, past King's Mead to Hertford for a picnic in the castle grounds. We return via Hertford Heath, Great Amwell and the original source of the New River.

Stanstead Abbotts. A10 to the Chelmsford & Harlow A414 turnoff, follow Stanstead Abbots B181 signs to St. Margarets. Over railway crossing at St Margarets station and after 390 yards, turn first left after pedestrian crossing lights by red post box into car park. Charges apply: £1.50 all day on Sundays as at 19-Aug-25. Not a big car park, so please car-share if possible - thanks.
