Due to the forecast of 98% chance of rain during the day, especially on higher ground, it is thought best to CANCEL this walk. It will be re-scheduled for Tuesday February 17th in place of SC Walk Stage 3
We are the Sheffield Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
Meet at Dore & Totley Station for the second stage of the Steel-Cotton Rail Trail for a 10:30 start.
You can use a 97,98 or 218 bus or the 10:14 train from Sheffield to the station.
Car parking is available at Abbeydale Sports Club as the Station car park is closed until March.
The walk will go through Poynton Wood, Hay Brook, Moss Road, Totley Moor, Longshaw Estate and through Yarncliffe Wood to Grindleford Station.
The route goes through woods and then there is a steady uphill pull up to Totley Moor and then follows a downward route through Longshaw down to Grindleford.
Some of the paths will be rough, muddy, rutted and with occasional surface water .
There are no facilities at the start but there is a cafe at the end.
Only a couple of stiles. Some busy roads to cross with care.
Hopefully they'll be time for a mug of tea before our return by train from Grindleford.
