A themed walk taking in a number or graveyards with some interesting occupants. We start with Crookes cemetery with a premature burial, the grave of countryside campaigner Ethel Haythornthwaite and a tunnelers' memorial. We then head to St Mary's graveyard with a football tragedy then to the Jewish and Catholic cemeteries. We cross then walk along the Rivelin (WCs). After a climb up to the old Quaker cemetery we pass the new green burial ground to the Unitarian chapel. Heading towards the Loxley we pass a mini sculpture park. Another climb takes us to Loxley Common then past Hillsborough golf course to the coffin road via Holdworth and the walk's end at High Bradfield with its graves of some of those killed in the Sheffield Flood.
There are 2 main climbs up the sides of the Rivelin and Loxley valleys. There are also a few fairly straightforward stiles.
Catch the 9:32 51 bus from Arundel Gate (AG11) to the Crosspool shops. Leader will meet you there.
There is a break off point at about 6 miles on the Loxley road if needed.
