A winter walk looping around the Stiperstones via Black Ditch and Blakemoorgate to Lordshill chapel and back through the Hollies and Brook Vessons nature reserves. Great views (weather permitting) of the Stiperstones, Long Mynd and the Stretton Hills to the east, Corndon Hill and Welsh mountains to the west, Minsterley, Pontesbury and Shrewsbury to the north.
Starting at 10 o'clock from the Stiperstones car park OS Explorer 216 grid reference 370977. NB The start point is not the Bog car park near the visitor centre. From the Bog car park, turn right and follow the road uphill round two sharp bends, then take the first signposted left turn and the car park is on the left after about 500 metres.
The walk is approximately 8 miles, with 340 m ascent.
The weather on Stiperstones can be significantly colder and windier than other parts of the county so warm, windproof layers are recommended. We will walk most of the way on well-defined tracks and paths but some sections are uneven and rocky, while others can be very muddy. Gentle ascents / descents with no steep climbs. A few stiles.
