Overview

The walk will start in the village of Halford, this is where the Fosse Way Roman road crosses the River Stour. By the river are the earthworks and buried remains of Halford Castle, a motte castle believed to be the predecessor of the present manor house.

The walk will start at the Halford Bridge Inn which is a 16th century coaching inn.

It is a linear walk which will take us along the Shakespeare Way through the villages of Newbold on Stour, Alderminister, Preston on Stour, Altherstone on Stour and Clifford Chambers and then into Stratford upon Avon to complete the walk.
