From Parc Lodge Car Park, north of Abergavenny, we wend our way westwards to the Mynydd Llanwenarth viewpoint. From here it’s a steady climb to the summit of Sugar Loaf, some 400m above our start point. There’s a steep descent on the East side followed by a beautiful ridge to Deri and back through a Sessile Oak forest to the cars. This is an easy mountain, but the weather is unpredictable at this time of year. Good windproof/waterproof clothing are recommended and poles if you are used to using them. As usual we will find a couple of coffee stops and a lunch break subject to conditions.
