We are the Brighton and Hove Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
The route of this circular walk takes you out of Steyning and then steeply up to join the South Downs Way. Brief stop at the early Iron hill fort Chanctonbury Ring where pottery finds suggests origins may date to the late Bronze Age. Down to the pub in Washington for lunch. Then back along the base of the downs to Steyning.
Hilly with some steep ascents in places. Food available in the pub, but if you bring a packed lunch please at least buy a drink in the pub to keep them sweet.
Bus Number 2 leaves from Churchill Square at 08:59am. Arrives Steyning at 09:53. A short 5 minute walk from the bus stop to the start location in the car park.
If you can, please RSVP to this walk via our Meetup site. This will give the walk leader a rough idea of how many people may be attending. If you are a paid up member of the Ramblers organisation, you can ignore any waitlist you may find yourself on.
We don't ask you to pay to join us on your first three walks. Afterwards, in order to continue walking with our group, you must become a paid-up member of the Ramblers. The walk will start from the Fletchers Croft car park, off Vicarage Lane, Steyning, West Sussex. Adjacent to Steyning Health Centre. This is a short 5 minute walk from the bus stop.
