Overview

This walk starts from the car park off the Ditchling Road opposite Woodbourne Avenue. There's not much space here so start in the park. We walk across the Hillfort and down across access land ( which may be rough surface) to Coldean. We then cross Coldean Lane and then A27 via a footbridge before heading up through Stanmer Park woods. We stop at One Garden for coffee and toilets and then continue across the parkland and woods to another footbridge. Wee descend through Colden woods and climb again through the streets of Coldean. We meet the woods above Wild Park and then finally return to the start via the HIllfort. Plenty of ascent and descent, but mostly gentle. sticks may be needed especially after rain. This walk is accessible by no 46 and 26 bus to Woodbourne Garage. There is very limited parking in the car park but free parking in the roads off Woodbourne Avenue. It is possible to complete a shorter walk ( either by joining the walk at the junction of Hawskhead Road and Saunders road ( at about 11 am. and then leaving the walk after the Stanmer Park section and returning where you started either via Coldean lane or a clear path through Coldean woods- 3.1 miles or by using the bus and returning to town by bus from the bottom end of Coldean Lane) Dogs on leads only welcome.
