Overview

Approximately 13.5 mile circular walk on good paths & field boundaries taking in Gelston, Hough on the Hill, Carlton Scroop, Honington and Barkston Heath. Return to start via Heath Lane track & Minnetts Hill. One longish section of quiet road walking. Lunch at Honington Church.

Note - My recce confirmed that the conditions are pretty much those to be expected after so much rain, with lots of standing water and some slippery ascents and descents There are 5 stiles between Gelston and Hough on the Hill which will need to be crossed with care. More importantly, the hedgerow through which one stile provides access has partially collapsed, far enough away to allow the stile to be climbed, but requiring walkers to clamber over it to progress further. I managed this easily, but please note this additional obstacle. 13.5 mile walk, but may seem further given the above!
