The 7-9 mile walk next Thursday 5th March is a figure-of-eight from Royal Winchester Golf Club. The Club has given us permission to use their car park and restaurant.
Note! The golf club does not allow boots to be worn inside the club or even left outside the front door! Please bring a pair of shoes to change into at lunch time.
The morning walk of 4 ½ miles takes us in the direction of Sparsholt via the Clarendon Way, returning via Teg Down and the golf course. Much of the route is quiet lanes, so it should not be too muddy. The afternoon is a loop of 3 ½ miles to the south towards Pitt.
Start time: 10.00
Parking: Royal Winchester Golf Club, Sarum Road, Winchester, Hampshire, SO22 5QE. (W3W: magnum.slurred.menswear). On entering the golf club car park, turn left immediately into the overflow car park. (The club has asked us not to use the main car park).
Public transport: The start of the walk can be reached by bus. Several buses stop at Pitt Park&Ride. From there it is a 10 minute walk to the golf club along Kilham Lane and Sarum Road.
Lunch: This will be at the golf club. The bar and restaurant serve a good range of inexpensive snacks as well as full meals, drinks, tea and coffee. A copy of the menu is attached, and the menu can be seen here: https://www.royalwinchestergolfclub.com/uploads/royalwinchester/File/Social%20Events/RWGC%20bar%20menu%202024.pdf
Please let me have your meal orders by Tuesday afternoon. Numbers are limited to 16 for lunch.
