We are the Windsor & District Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
We walk through Shillingford back towards the river and onto Shillingford Bridge. After another mile we come to Benson Marina and a ferry across the river (£2) The footbridge at Benson Lock is closed and the ferry is an alternate to 2 miles of road walking into Wallingford. We can enjoy our packed lunches in Wallingford at the end of this short section. The afternoon can be spent looking around the town before the X40 bus back to Reading and then the train home.
We catch the Elizabeth Line to Reading, 09.47 at Slough, 09:50 at Burnham, 09:53 at Taplow and 09:56 at Maidenhead to arrive at Reading at 10:10. We then catch the X40 bus from Station Road stop SB at 10:35 to arrive in Shillingford at 11:38.
The walk finishes at Wallingford, Market Place.
