Overview

Parking at the car park, adjacent to Barnham Cross Common, we will walk through parts of Thetford Forest to Santon Downham, where we can visit two churches before following parts of the Little Ouse River, and St Edmund Way back to Thetford, where there is scope to observe numerous ruins, churches and a delightful riverside, before heading back to the start point.

There are unfortunately no toilets at the start/finish point, nor many opportunities for refreshments i.e. cafes, pubs or shops throughout this route. There are public toilets in Santon Downham (which I hope will be open). It will be essential to carry all the food (packed lunch), water, and snacks you will need. There are stunning spots alongside the river in Santon Downham where we will stop for a picnic lunch. Toilets and pub/shops refreshments will be plentiful when we are back in Thetford. I will carry first aid, some spare water, and other essentials should they be needed.
