Overview

Meet @ Saxton church @ 10.30 for a 7.5 circular walk.

We will walk down Dam Lane past the churchyard & school & then turn right onto Milner lane, then onto Castle Hill Farm & over to Cock Beck & past Low Lead Farm & cottages.

Half a Mike to the right is the Bloody Meadow so named after the slaughter of the Lancastrians which saw the Cock Beck run red with blood long after the fighting had ended

We then continue to Newstead Farm where we will be able to see Hazelwood Castle .

The track runs through open  fields to Lodge Farm. We will then turn left onto Chantry lane .

We will pass the castle & then the Gallops & then enter Hayton wood where we will have a view of Aberford

We will then walk towards Hayton House farm & then have a view of Lead church.

We will pass it & cross over the road to pass through the pub car park & make our way back to Saxton for refreshments in the pub.
