From St Briavels this walk follows a track down to near Mork, then follows the Slade Brook back upstream past the numerous small Travertine dams. This SSSI has the best exposure of these natural dams in the UK, formed by the redeposition of dissolved minerals from underground streams that flow through limestone strata and then emerge as springs.
The route continues along tracks and footpaths across farmland and back to St Briavels.
A leisurely walk with a couple of drink stops.
Several stiles.
Turn off the B4228 Chepstow to Coleford Road into the village of St Briavels, and park on the road or in the car park close to St Briavels Castle.
