We are the Alton Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
An evening walk, walking from The Trooper Inn, Froxfield to Hawkley via Oakshott. There are great views at the top of The Hangar before a fairly steep but manageable descent down to Oakshott, great views across to Hawkley on a clear evening. Then along the valley bottom leading to a gradual climb up to the pretty Village of Hawkley. Returning from Hawkley and up over Down Hanger, a steady climb back to The Trooper for a well earned drink and a meal if desired.
Please bring water to drink and a snack if you like. Walking poles a good idea if you are accustomed to them for descents and ascents.
Will be leaving The Trooper at 5.30pm prompt so please arrive by 5.15pm

Alton Sports Centre lower car park
The Trooper Inn, Froxfield. If coming from Alton take A32 and turn off at Hedge Corner onto the Alton Road, sign posted Steep and Froxfield. The Trooper Inn is off the Alton Road in a dip about 150m north of Honeycritch Lane, 4 miles from the A32. Just south of Honeycritch Lane if approaching from Petersfield.
