The walk starts in Preston Candover, a small village a few miles to the south of Basingstoke. The walk sets off with a short section along the B3046 and then we head north-west along St James Way. We are now heading away from, but might meet some pilgrims walking towards, Santiago de Compostela. Just south of Dummer, we intercept the Wayfarers Walk and then head south towards Brown Candover. The Wayfarers Way includes a short section on the road – sorry! We then head east along Oxdrove Way (or The Ox Drove), a splendid broad path. After striding out for about three miles, we head west back to Preston Candover.
The countryside is expansive with gentle rolling hills. There are no stiles and very few gates.
The walk was recce'd during a very wet period, and despite that it was not excessively muddy. Fingers crossed.
Please bring sufficient drink and food for mid morning and lunch breaks.
Walk numbers are limited to 20, so please book online at the link, before 6pm, Wednesday, 4 March.
