We are the Isle of Wight Ramblers. We arrange walks, monitor paths and help our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.

A leisurely summer circular walk with a drinks and snack stop. A familiar favourite to many, but this should hopefully be a nice walk if the summer weather is kind. We start from Golden Hill Fort (free car park) and then I think we'll go anticlockwise, past the church and across and down the river (hopefully via some swans), along the old railway track into Yarmouth. From there, across the harbour bridge and around the coast, with a lunch or snack stop by the sea at Fort Victoria (cafe and toilets), finally continuing the loop via Colwell back to the car park.

Park at the Golden Hill Fort carpark (free).
By public transport
There is on current timetables (to be checked when the Island Bus summer timetable comes out) a bus from Newport bus station at 09.15 which arrives at Heathfield Close bus stop at 10.05 and the Golden Hill Fort carpark is a short walk from there. There is also a bus arrives from the other direction (from the west) which arrives at the same time.
Car share
In the interests of the air, parking, and non-drivers, if anyone is able to offer, or needs, a carshare then please post on WhatsApp group (to join group please message Serena 07564-811690).
Depending on the weather, consider suitable clothing, footwear, walking pole(s), sun cream, drinks, and food. Watch out for ticks and remove ASAP. If you are unsure about your ability to undertake this walk, please contact the walks leader. If you need to leave the walking group, please ensure you inform the leader or back marker
There are short sections of road walking so please walk in single file and take good care.

If you are new to the Ramblers you can just turn up for any of our walks, unless we specify otherwise. We invite you to come along for three walks as a non-member.
