Buy West Midlands Anytime Day return ticket from Crewe to Stoke on Trent departing at 8:33am. Alight at Longport Station at 8:52am.
From Longport station we follow the Trent & Mersey canal to Festival Park and then into Hanley to visit the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery where we eat our picnic lunch.
The route then continues through Hanley Park to reach the Caldon canal which leads back to the T & M canal which we follow to Stoke station.
We return to Crewe on any train from Stoke on Trent (roughly half hourly)
