Overview

A walk from Chetnole heading for the Wessex Ridgeway trail, and down to Sydling St Nicholas, stopping at Sydling village green for lunch.  From the village green its uphill to and across the busy A37 (care needed), and down to Maiden Newton.  Some uneven paths and road walking.   Could be muddy in places.

Outward trains to Chetnole:

From Bristol Temple Meads: ETD 08.03, ETA 09.47.  (does not stop at Freshford or Avoncliff.  Chetnole is a request stop, so please tell the train manager you wish to alight there, and use the front carriage).

From Weymouth: ETD 09.30, ETA 10.09

From Maiden Newton ETD 10.01, ETA 10.09 

(purchase return tickets to the station furthest from your departure station)

To Bristol Temple Meads:  18.01 (does not stop at Avoncliff or Freshford)  

To Weymouth 18.00 

Most railway stations along the line do not have toilets, including Weymouth, so of needed, it is advisable to use the train toilets before alighting.

Whilst the walks are risk assessed, and may be changed at short notice if necessary, for your health and safety we recommend that you wear good walking boots/shoes, consider if you need trekking poles, and bring sufficient food/drink for the walk.
