We are a unique group where leaders from groups along the Heart of Wessex railway line, from Bristol to Weymouth, organise walks involving stations along the line. The walks start when the trains from both directions have departed. This enables a wide range of locations for participants to join a walk. It award winning and has been running for 27 years.
Let the train (and us) take the strain and enjoy a great day out exploring maybe the countryside, the Dorset coast, market towns or historical sites.
Interested? Then do come along and see what the Wessex Wanderers Railway Walks programme has to offer, meet likeminded people, and help save the planet at the same time by using public transport. No worries about traffic jams or parking either.
These free guided walks are led by experienced members of the Ramblers and are chosen by each leader. They can start from any of the stations along the beautiful Heart of Wessex railway line which runs from Bristol to Weymouth, traversing Somerset, Wiltshire, and Dorset.
The programme normally runs between May and October and consists of circular and linear walks of various lengths, so you are bound to find something to suit your tastes and abilities. We normally organise a Winter get together too.
