The walk will start at Vernham Dean, before we head off west through the valley of Hippenscombe, a landscape captured by the artist Eric Ravillious. . We will reach Tidcombe, enjoying views over the Vale of Pewsey, and return via the iron age Fosbury Camp. It's a beautiful, varied walk in a quiet part of the country.
We start at the small car park by the playground and primary school in Vernham Dean. The walk is easy going, and we will take it at a comfortable pace. There are no steep climbs, but a couple of sharp descents. There are only a few stiles. Well controlled dogs are welcome, but please tell them not to try to catch all the pheasants they will see. We will stop for a late morning coffee break and a picnic lunch. There is the option of a drink at The George in Vernham Dean at the end.
