A 11 mile walk in and around the Chatsworth Estate with, weather permitting, stunning views of the landscape and Chatsworth House and with a bit of luck a herd of deer. Starting at the car park at Chatsworth House we walk uphill through Stand Wood to the Hunting Lodge and Emperor and Swiss Lakes. It's then onto open moorland of the Rabbit Warren, then through Hell Bank Plantation and through fields to Fallinge and into Rowley Wood, then downhill to the village of Rowley for lunch. After lunch we follow the River Derwent upstream to Carlton Lees, then it's uphill to Carlton House and New Piece Wood, then it's downhill to the estate village of Edensor, then back through the estate parkland to the start.
Toilets at the start of the walk and at lunch time. Lunch in Rowsley with cafes available at the Peak Village shopping centre and a pint at the Grouse and Claret. Walk suitable for dogs, not too many stiles, couple of difficult stone stiles. Car parking charge of £5/car at Chatsworth House so car sharing advised.
