Starting from White Post, where we should find sufficient parking, we head east on a quiet road to Withypool Cross. Farmland and fields then take us to the river Barle at Tar Steps. We may cross the river here or head up the right bank to a bridge higher up depending on river conditions. Continuing to follow the river a beautiful path takes us to the village of Withypool via a section of the Two Moors Way. A shortcut may be available to us over stepping stones south of Withypool. Moorland paths then take us past Withypool Hill and on to Upper Willingford Bridge and back to White Post. This is a great route with no really big climbs, but it is quite a long walk with some rough moorland and riverside terrain. As usual we will find a couple of coffee stops and a lunch break. Less than 5 stiles.
