5.5miles of flat walking in the Whixall and Bettisfield Mosses. The mosses are home to some unusual wildlife and some interesting fungi. There are many information panels contain a lot interesting details. The walk is mainly on rough grassy paths over the Moss which can be boggy after sustained rain. We follow part of the Llangollen canal and the Shropshire Way. There is a car park at the start but no toilets. After the walk refreshments are available at the Whixall Marina Cafe which is a short distance by car.
This is walk 12 from the little book Shropshire Year Round Walks…an autumn walk !
We expect to take about 3 hours to cover the route. There will be one stop for drink and snacks.
Although I would say this is a dog friendly walk it will be mostly on lead walking.
The Mosses are midway between Whitchurch and Wem. Parking is at the Morris Lift Bridge (free) car park
