Overview

A leisurely 5mile linear walk from Windmill Nature Reserve through Caldecote and ending at Hartshill to the north-west of Nuneaton, Warwickshire.  Expect a varied landscape of small hills and flatter areas with fields, woods, canals and rivers some of which is in a post industrial phase.  There will be a break at a suitable location when you may consume any snacks and drinks you may wish to bring, also a pub lunch will be available at the Malt Shovel in Hartshill.  The walk itself starts at 1100 and ends at 1400hrs approximately, any other timings shown include bus travel from and returning to Coventry.

Your walk leader Duncan Barker will meet the majority of walkers at Nuneaton Bus Station where we change buses on our way to the start of the walk.

Overall transport plan for this walk is as follows:

148 Stagecoach bus from stand TS3, Trinity Street, Coventry departs 0935 and arrives at Nuneaton Bus Station Stand C2 at 1023 where we meet walk leader Duncan Barker.  Duncan will guide the group to the next bus departing towards Windmill Nature Reserve.

Walk as described above followed by pub lunch from approximately 1400.

From bus stop adjacent to pub, board suitable bus back to Nuneaton Bus Station where we change to the next available 148 bus back to Coventry.  Other bus routes back to Coventry are available.

Those holding a bus pass issued anywhere in England may travel free of charge on these buses.  Those not holding a suitable bus pass should ask the bus driver for the cheapest return fare.

Bus stop TS3 on Trinity Street, Coventry is the start point for most walkers boarding the first bus to Nuneaton Bus Station where we meet the walk leader and change buses to the start of the walk. Other walkers travelling from elsewhere should advise the leader about their joining details as mentioned above.
