Winter Solstice Walk, Watton-at-Stone, Herts

Join us for a figure of 8 walk to celebrate the winter solstice. In the morning there is a very easy 4 mile walk along level footpaths with wide open vistas. We shall share a festive picnic at the Watton-at-Stone playground where there are picnic tables. The afternoon walk is 4.5 miles and includes a little of everything: woodland, open fields a pretty stretch along the banks of the river Beane. 

There is a car park at the Nigel Poulton Community Hall and along the high street.  It is a 10 minute walk from the train station (train arrives at 10.10 but check on the day in case of disruption)

It is generally easy walking but could be muddy in places. There are some short stretches of lane walking.

Please bring some festive treats to share at the picnic.

There are 2 stock fields where dogs need to be kept on a lead.
