A small, but growing, village. We park the coach in the layby next to Winterley Pool, with the Foresters Arms pub up the road for refreshments on your return. An old railway line, the Salt Line, and the nearby canal towpath to walk. There will be no great height to be climbed on any of today's walks.
There will be three walks available with details circulated on the coach. They will range from easy to strenuous depending on the walk selected.
A Walk Leader - Dave White - 12 miles with little ascent and few difficulties. just the odd stile. Hope all enjoy. Map on our Facebook page.
B Walk Leader - Dave Eccles - 9 to 9.5 miles with 689ft of ascent. Taking in a small section of the Crewe & Nantwich Circular Trail, open fields, the outskirts of Alsager for the lunch stop. Then on to Borrow Pit Meadows, the disused Salt Line, the Trent & Mersey towpath to the village of Wheelock, and back into Winterly via open fields, farm land and country lanes. A few low stiles in good condition but mainly gates.
C Walk Leaders - Helen & Sue - 8 miles with 400 ft of ascent. Rolling farmland, 14 stiles (some challenging). Nature Reserve, Canal tow path, small hill, views across the valley. There is plenty of interest on this walk with animals, golf and fishing. We haven't been here as Ramblers before, but the description looks super. More info on our Facebook page.
