The Wirral Way follows the bed of the old railway line, now a popular walking and cycling route, from Hooton to West Kirby. Today you have the opportunity of walking the full twelve & half miles, or just a shorter section depending on which walk you go on. Just make sure that you are "booted up" at the comfort stop (Chester Services) as all of the walks are linear and alight from the coach before it reaches West Kirby where the coach will be parked ready for our return following refreshments.
The will be three walks available, none of which have any hills as they all follow the old railway line.
A Walk Leader - Derek Cook - Walking the full twelve & half miles from Hooton Station to West Kirby.
B Walk Leader - Dave Eccles - Starting from Windle Hill and walking the ten miles to West Kirby.
C Walk Leader - John Slatcher - Around 7.5 miles with no stiles. Starting at the bus stop on the A540 at the top of Boathouse Lane. We walk down the lane for half mile, turning right at Cedar Court on to a farm track. We follow this to Backwood Hall Farm, at the other side of this we take a path crossing fields and a golf course (care needed). Now on the wirral Way into West Kirby at Orrysdale Road, where the coach will be parked near by.
