Overview

This walk is part of the IOW Ramblers Festival Day. It is part of a day which, among other things has at least three walks, with people meeting up later at the Jubilee Recreation Ground for a ‘Picnic in the Park’.

Most of this walk will follow the present Coastal Route and will show the problem that we are contesting, that this is not a true coastal route being inland and all of this section on roads and pavements. If you have a high-viz vest or jacket you may want to wear it for the walk. When we are on Brocks Copse Road and Alverstone Road then please walk in single file as there are no pavements. Additionally, please note any directives to change sides of the road in order to see and be seen on blind bends. Above all please take care.

The start time is 11.00 am from Brannon Way car park, Wootton. There are toilets at the start on Brannon Way. The numbers 9 and 4 buses run along the main road with the appropriate bus stop being ‘Tesco’. We will walk four miles, first going up along Rectory Drive, then Footways, Brocks Copse Road, Alverstone Road and then A3021 Whippingham Road to York Avenue and Jubilee Park where there will be a picnic. As can be seen from the route this walk is all on roads and pavements.

You should wear suitable clothing and carry some water.

The walk leaders are Adrian T  07768 527819 and John S-M  07919 321427.
