A short and easy amble around Wycoller: a virtually car-free village with two ancient bridges and old stone cottages. The Atom, a large and unusual viewing platform, is also on the route. Starting from the car park we follow a footpath for about 600 yards alongside the road to reach the village. We pass the ruins of Wycoller Old Hall (reportedly the inspiration for Ferndean Manor in Jane Eyre) and then follow the Bronte Way, alongside Wycoller Beck. You may see some willow sculptures on this path! Before long we cross an open field and head uphill to The Atom, with views towards Pendle Hill. The path then curves back around to the village, where we will have more time to explore the ruins of Wycoller Old Hall (public toilets are available nearby).
