The walk will take us across to Nettlesford Green, through the deer park, past Roydon Hall and up to St Michaels Church before returning via Pizien Well to Hampstead Lane along the River Medway. There may be some photo ops at the deer park if the deer are close by.
We will need to cross the railway line twice as well as a busy road at Nettlesford Green. There are stiles at both railway crossings and also a couple on the route. (Dogs will have to be lifted over).
There is a steady climb up to St Michael Church and after we leave the Church there is another steady climb up to the Folly/Gatehouse where we will have a short break. There is a section of road walking on a quiet lane after we leave St Michaels Church until we reach Pizien Well.
St Michaels Church, now disused but still open, was the Church for the original scattered hamlet of East Peckham as well as the Church for Roydon Hall. Roydon Hall was once home to the Hari Krishna as a retreat and visited by George Harrison of the Beetles.
