We are the York Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
Leaving the layby we walk north through the village and turn into Becca Lane, through the woods and past the impressive Becca Banks. We then take tracks and field paths and quiet roads to Potterton and Barwick in Elmet, with its Iron Age fortifications and maypole. After many more tracks and field paths we pass through Garforth golf club to reach the disused railway track in Parlington Lane. Here can be found Nellie's Tree, the 2018 UK Tree of the Year.
Terrain is pretty flat, probably muddy in places and includes around 10 stiles
