Overview

This walk starts from Lockton Cemetery.  We cross the Whitby Road and head into Staindale  which we follow to the Public Toilets at Staindale Lake. Then we ascend to the Bridestones where we will probably stop for lunch.

From the Bridestones we follow the track towards Newgate Bank but turn left before we reach the road onto an old byway which takes us through fields before we cross the Whitby Road at Whitedale to follow a track back to our cars at the cemetery.

There is tall bracken and nettles and other vegetation on parts of this walk so trousers are Highly Recommended.

The walk is mainly flat with an ascent to the Bridestones.

Distance 9.5 miles   Ascent  990 feet.
