We are the East York Get Your Boots on Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
Meet at the bus stop on Coble Lane, Sheriff Hutton at 09:10 to catch the 81 bus at 09:23 to York city centre. £2 for a single ticket, can be purchased on the bus using card or cash. On street parking available nearby on main street. (Alternatively if it's more convenient, you can meet us at York Minster at 10:15, and catch the bus back to York afterwards, leaving Sheriff Hutton at 16:58)
The first section begins outside York Minster and from there we head out of York through Monkgate bar and follow the path opposite to the river Foss. The route then follows the river Foss passed Huntington and New Earswick to Haxby. We leave the river briefly at this point to head through the village and then rejoin it a little further on as we head towards Strensall. Just beyond Strensall the route leaves the river and follows both footpaths and tracks to Sheriff Hutton, passing though West Lilling along the way.
🍺 After the walk there is the option of going for a drink at The Highwayman pub in Sheriff Hutton.
🥾 Following the recent wet weather some of the paths, especially along the riverside were very muddy in places so walking boots are advised.
🥪 You will need to bring a packed lunch with you, there will not be time to buy anything after we get off the bus in York.
