ADVANCE BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL for this linear walk.
We start from Wetwang over gently rolling hills, enjoying good views to the east. After skirting round the village of Huggate, we encounter the dry valleys that make the Yorkshire Wolds so iconic. After a couple of steep descents and steep climbs, we emerge onto Millington Wold, with spectacular views over Millington and across to York and beyond.
2024 marks the 30th Anniversary of the Chalkland Way, a long distance walk in the Yorkshire Wolds devised by a Ramblers Member, Ray Wallis. To commemorate this occasion, East Yorkshire and Derwent Area Ramblers have decided to walk the whole trail on one day, in four distinct stages.
All four stages are linear walks and in this stage we meet at Millington Church, and a coach will take us to the start point of the walk at Wetwang. Booking is therefore essential as there are limited spaces on the coach. Please contact Beverley Tourist Information Centre on beverley.tic@eastriding.gov.uk or 01482 391672 to book your place, and state which section of the route you want to walk.
At the end of the walk, all those participating are invited to a celebratory event at Bishop Wilton Village Hall for tea and cakes, and we are expecting Ray Wallis to join us.
