A very nice walk in the less frequented countryside to the east of Ilmington. From the village we begin with a longish climb up towards the Foxcote estate and then descend, with great views on a lovely section through woods, across fields and then on quiet country lanes to the villages of Darlingscott and then Blackwell, where we will stop for a snack break. From Blackwell we continue, initially on tarmac, then across fields and over a final small hill back into Ilmington.
Bring refreshments.
(see weblink below for a map of the route)
One quite big climb to start, but the rest of the route is pretty flat and easy. Quite a lot is on tarmac but these are quiet country lanes with little traffic. There are a few stiles but nothing very difficult. Suitable for well-behaved dogs on leads, but please note there is likely to be cattle in a couple of fields. Likely to be muddy in places if the weather has been wet.
