Walk the historic "Way of the Dead" from Bellever to Lydford. A 12 mile linear walk across Dartmoor starting from the Bellever Forest car park and ending at Lydford village, in the Nicholls Hall. The walk crosses open moorland and several streams with some boggy ground and ups and downs. It follows the ancient path used by mourners to take their dead to be buried at Lydford when it was the mother church for Dartmoor Forest. The walk is held biannually for the people of Lydford.
Stops for coffee and lunch will be held along the route but their will be some extra refreshment provided at the lunch stop. At the Nicholls Hall afterwards there will be tea and cakes available for which a donation would be appreciated. This is a linear walk so arrangements must be made for you to be at the car park in Bellever for the 0930 start and get back from Lydford after the finish.
