Welcome to Edinburgh Ramblers
Edinburgh Ramblers are a friendly and active group offering a wide range of walks from gentle city strolls to hill, mountain and moorland adventures.
Whether you’re new to walking, rediscovering it, or looking for good company on the trails, you’ll be very welcome.
We run walks every week, both midweek and at weekends, led by trained and experienced leaders. Most walks are accessible by public transport, and for trips further afield we sometimes arrange car sharing.
All our walks must be booked in advance and walk leaders will confirm walk and travel details, whether a packed lunch will be needed and anything else you need to know. Comfort breaks are built in to all our walks.
Walk leaders have the right to decline bookings from people lacking suitable fitness, equipment or on safety grounds.
To help you choose the right level, our walks are graded:
· D – Gentle strolls up to 4 miles (6.5 km), mostly flat
· C / C+ – Leisurely walks up to 7 miles (11 km), with some hills or rough ground
· B / B+ – Moderate to demanding walks up to 12 miles (19 km), including hillier terrain
· A / A+ – Challenging routes up to 15 miles (24 km) with steeper climbs or rougher paths
You can try up to three walks before joining Ramblers.
Once you’re a member, you’ll be able to join any Ramblers group across the UK — a great way to explore new places and meet other walkers.
We also run monthly coach walks on Sundays to destinations within about two hours of Edinburgh.
These outings offer several walk options and cost £15 per person.
Coaches leave at 9 am and return around 7 pm.
Assistance dogs
Assistance dogs are always welcome, but please check with the walk leader that the route is suitable. Pet dogs can only join if the walk details specifically say ‘dogs welcome’.
So, take a look at our walks programme, choose a walk that suits you, and come along — we’d love to meet you on the path!
