Overview

This walk starts at Wilne Lane car park (free) and takes us along the Trent and Mersey canal towards Aston and then along paths and a short road section (on pavements/wide grass verge) to Great Wilne and back.  It is all flat, it will be muddy, and there are a couple of stiles.  There is a gate to climb if the section of path next to it is still flooded (see photo): there is another option for anyone who cannot do this.  If flooding allows, there may be a further loop to St Chad's Water, adding on another 2 miles to the 7 mile route (I will update the night before following a further recce).   There are no toilets or cafes but there are pubs at the end of the walk.  There will be a stop for lunch so bring a packed lunch and drink, and further breaks should the group so wish. Any questions contact Jenny T on 07983720789.
