Overview

This c10 mile route leaves Shawford, working its way through Twyford to Owslebury.  The walk then returns back via Twyford Down, St. Catherines Hill, and finally alongside the Itchen to Shawford.

The walk provides great scenic opportunities, as well as quiet country lanes to amble along, and also glorious river side views

Parking is available in the free car park above the Station, as well as paid parking outside the Station.  There is also a lot of unrestricted "street parking" available.

Regular train services, from Eastleigh, Southampton and Winchester, stop at Shawford Station, where there is a Station Cafe.

It is also possible to catch regular buses to the start/finish of the walk - Bluestar Service 1 - Winchester to Southampton, stops at Shawford Down, a short walk from the Station.  The current service operates at c20 min. intervals.

Please bring a drink for "morning coffee" (perhaps an "Xmas tipple", if you aren't driving) and also a packed lunch (of Xmas "leftovers").
