Overview

This is a moderate walk of 8.5 miles with the option of one mile blue plaque trail around the old town of Llantwit Major (9.5 miles total), since the instigation of this route it has been incorporated into the Wales Coast Path. It combines gently rolling cliff top and inland paths, 1.5 mile beach and Lias Limestone wave cut platform walk (an uneven surface). Enroute we stop briefly at Dunraven Castle, Nash Point Lighthouse finishing at the ancient centre of Celtic Christian learning Llantwit Major.

This is a full day away from Pembrokeshire and involves approximately 2 hours travel each way. Potentially there are up to 3 ice cream stops (don't forget to bring cash if indulging). Please bring water, drink for a packed lunch and a packed lunch. For your evening meal there are a variety of restaurants, pubs and take aways on your way back to the M4.

The start time for this walk is the is bus departure time from Llantwit Major Railway Station please arrive in good time to board the bus. It is possible to get to this walk by a combination of rail and bus journeys.

We meet at Llantwit Major Bus and train station to take the 303 Bridgend service bus to The three Golden Cups Southern Down(£3.00 fare) to start our walk. Car parking is available beside the railway station either side of the bus terminus. Do not use the 2 hour Pound Field shoppers car park. The quickest way from the A48 is at Pentre Meryrick take the B4268 through Llysworney after which the road number changes to B4270 at the roundabout turn left onto B4265 Through the next roundabout ,at the traffic lights turn left onto Llamaes Road under the traffic light controlled bridge at the next min roundabout turn left and the car park is on the left.
