For anyone interested (or who thinks they might possibly be) in doing their Ramblers Association compulsory online Walk Leader training, we are trialling a day for those who might prefer to do this training in a group, and semi-social context, rather than on their own device at home. This is a bit of an experiment, so please bear with any uncertainties and teething issues. The precise format for the day is yet to be finalised (and may be a bit of a moveable feast) but the general gist is that it will include:
- Completing the online Walk Leader training modules as a group
- Weather permitting, a short local walk to keep us alert with our studies
- Ploughmans lunch (any dietary requirements please advise - I am aware one vegan)
- Hot drinks available throughout the day
We will meet at Alverstone Old School Hall 9.30am.
Probably we'll do the training in two sessions with the walk and lunch break in-between.
Not sure exactly how long our day will take, the stated finish time is pure guesstimate. If you need to leave before the training modules have been completed, you have the option to finish off and record the outstanding elements at home .
Can anyone wishing to attend please book by messaging Serena (07564-811690 or serenaheyes@hotmail.co.uk) . Two reasons for requesting booking on this occasion:
(a) So we have names and details for the Ramblers Association of all those completing their Walk Leader training, so their individual Rambler accounts can be credited; and
(b) So that we have enough food for lunch!
Oh and finally just to stress, doing the Walk Leader training is relevant and informative for all walkers and does not actually compel you to lead any walks - but we hope you may decide to.
Travel
Alverstone Old School Hall does not have a carpark but there is free onstreet parking in the vicinity.
The hall is unfortunately not on a bus route, if you need, or can offer, a lift please ask. Car-sharing is also better for the environment too .
