Overview

Join Stag Walkers for a Saturday night theatre social watching Trouble, Struggle, Bubble and Squeak, a mix of historical re-enactment, stand-up and storytelling, created by Victoria Melody, described as “the Louis Theroux of theatre.”

Directed by comedy legend Mark Thomas, this hour-long show is packed with heart, humour, and hijinks – perfect for lovers of theatre that makes you laugh, think, and maybe even take to the streets!

Trouble, Struggle, Bubble and Squeak offers a bold, funny, and heartfelt celebration of communities and the ordinary people who shape history. When Victoria Melody joined a historical re-enactment society, she uncovered the story of the 17th-century Diggers, who occupied common land. This investigation into their modern-day equivalents - community organisers and campaigners - uses storytelling and stand-up to explore land, power and working-class resistance.

A four-star Guardian review called the show “a joyful testament to people power, a heartening parable about the possibility of collective action.”

Please:
• DO NOT book onto an event unless you are pretty sure you will be able to make it.
• UPDATE YOUR RSVP. We understand ‘life happens’ so if you need to change your RSVP please do this at least 24 hours before the event and before booking closes to enable someone else to take your place.
• DON’T NO-SHOW on the day unless it is absolutely unavoidable (we do understand ‘life happens’) because it prevents others from enjoying an event if it is fully booked.
TAKE NOTE that if you no-show three times, without extenuating circumstances, we will decline further bookings from you for a period of six weeks.
