A circular walk covering approximately 9.5 miles. Starting in the Staunton Harold Reservoir Car park (don’t forget you NT pass for the Car park), proceeding clockwise, skirting the NW side of the reservoir, through the shaded Caulke Lime pits. Stopping at Ticknall Village hall (2.2m) for a coffee break (toilet facilities available), before proceeding onto Foremark via Hangman’s Stone (3.3m), where there are fine views towards Ashbourne, and the cooling towers of the former Willington power station.
After lunching at St Saviours church (dating 1662), continue the circular route via Anchor Church Caves (5.4m), After the caves there is a short steep incline before we continue onto Ingleby (village of the English), through Robin wood, St brides (8.5m) before returning to the Staunton Harold car park for an Ice cream at the end of the walk.
The group does not stop at cafes or pubs for lunch, and you should bring enough food and drinks with you to last the whole walk. We usually stop for a coffee break an hour or so into the walk, and stop for lunch around 12:30-13:00. However, the weather and availability of a suitable location will affect both timings.
