Area name: Dorset
The County of Dorset is blessed with some beautiful countryside with a large proportion designated as Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty from Golden Cap in the west to Durleston Country Park in the east and extending into Cranborne Chase in the north. The Natural World Heritage Site of the Jurassic Coast continues from the county boundary to Old Harry Rocks in the east. Poets, writers and artists have been among the many that enjoy the numerous picturesque and interesting villages and hamlets which can only be seen at their best when walking.
The range of walks put on by the various groups is an ideal way to enjoy the diverse countryside, and appreciate the best of rural and coastal walking.
We are primarily a social group and our walks end with an optional lunch at a local pub or café. Our walks start Monday 10:00 (except bank holidays) within one hour's drive of Bournemouth
Despite our group name, we really don't care what age you are; if you like walking with a friendly, relaxed, easy going group of people, who occasionally socialize you're most welcome to join us.
Our groups help local people enjoy walking and protect the places we all love to walk. Most groups organise regular walks led by local experts – a great way to get outside, make new friends and discover how walking boosts your health and happiness.
We provide led walks from many different locations, varying in length from 5 miles to over 15 miles. Members receive a printed programme three times a year.
We aim to provide two walks each week, ranging in distance between 6 and 12 miles, on Wednesdays and Sundays.
You are very welcome on our walks as a 'taster', or if you belong to another Ramblers Group, If you want to bring your dog with you, please contact the Walk Leader first.
Walking with our group gives you the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful, unspoilt coastline and countryside of West Dorset, as well as the camaraderie of a friendly group of people.
