Overview

This is a circular walk heading North from Church Oakley through undulating Hampshire countryside mainly on footpaths traversing farmland and woodland - with spectacular far-reaching views. We will pass the beautiful Malshanger Park en route to Hannington where we'll stop for picnic lunch on the village green before heading back South to the startpoint.

Good news is that there are no stiles BUT some of the paths are quite nettley so it is worth covering legs adequately! Poles are not essential at any point but please use if wished as some of the ground is a bit stoney or rutted and could definitely be muddy!

This is a picnic walk so bring all required refreshments with you.

Please let me know if you intend joining the walk as we may set off early once all those expected have arrived.

The walk start point in 25mins drive from Winchester so I recommend car-sharing where possible.

Parking is in Rectory Road, Church Oakley, between the church and St Leonard's Centre/Preschool. The road is wide enough for cars along one side BUT if there is a Service in the church at 10 that morning it will be best to arrive reasonably early or park a little further along the road. The walk starts along a footpath directly opposite the church.
