Starting on Wilverley Plain this is a walk designed for the wetter weather! We will walk on (mainly gravelled) forest tracks, along a disused railway bed, and across heathland to Burley where we will have lunch in the Queens Head or picnic nearby. 5 miles in the morning. After lunch we will walk a further 3.5 miles on easy paths back to Wilverley plain. Total ascent is 120m in the day.
Tables have been reserved in the pub for 15 people. It may be possible to accommodate a few more, but please do let me know (email preferred) if you plan to come and whether you will be eating in the pub. Please choose your meal (see weblink to menu) and let me know you plan to come as early as possible, and in any case no later than noon Tuesday 17th March so that I can negotiate more spaces if needed.
There are 5 stiles to negotiate, all in good condition.
There are several car parks near the start of the walk. We will meet in the area close to the Public toilets at SU 254 009, near the entrance to Wilverley Plain Car Park. Please be ready to start walking at 10:00.
