This is a walk through several areas of woodland with lovely autumn colour, open countryside with good views and short sections of country lanes, passing through the villages of West Winterslow, Pitton, Farley and West Dean. Historical interest en route.
There is a chalky descent and a steep ascent with steps at Pitton. 4 stiles.
Bring a picnic lunch, drinks and snacks as required.
Please let the leader know you are coming as we may leave early if all expected have arrived.
Bentley Wood Eastern Car Park. If coming via Stockbridge, take the A30 and turn left after about 4.5 miles into The Warren. After 3.2 miles turn left into West Dean Road. The entrance to Bentley Wood is about 2miles on the right. If coming via West Dean, take Dean Road for just over 1 mile, then turn left into Scouts Lane. The entrance to Bentley Wood is about 0.4 miles along on the left. The car park about 0.4 miles in on the right. The track is very rutted.
