This walk follows the Strawberry Trail down the River Hamble from Botley, all the way to Hamble-le-Rice where the river joins the Solent. We will then take a passenger ferry across the river to Warsash and follow the riverside path on the other side of the river back up to Burseldon and make our way through Hamble Country Park back to our start point.
Expect a mix of woodland, river, lanes and farmland on this quintessential South East Hampshire walk.
Bring a flask and sandwiches, as we will stop at Hamble-le-Rice waterfront for a picnic lunch before we head back along the picturesque causeway path on the East side of the river, backed by footballers' mansions and looking out over hundreds of yachts and motor cruisers. This is also a great estuary walk for "birders".
Most of this walk is on gravel and tarmac, with some woodland paths, so pretty easy going.
